Food Rescue U.S. uses technology to engage volunteers to transfer fresh food surpluses from local businesses to social service agencies serving those who may be food insecure.

Volunteers are needed to help with Central’s Manna Ministry! We partner with this program by picking up food from Wegmans. The food is then delivered to either the Arlington Food Assistance Center or the Homeless Services Center in Courthouse, and helps support our broader food ministry, including the Community Café.

This is a meaningful way to reduce food waste, care for our community, and share compassion in action.

We’re grateful to current volunteers Gene and Jeanie Cross, Jen Liu, and Brian and Wendy Bodson for their continued dedication to this ministry. Their service is a beautiful example of faith at work in the world.

Central’s Community Café provides free, hot, nutritious meals and a welcoming space for anyone who needs a meal or a place to rest. Open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the Café offers guests a comfortable place to relax and connect with others.

Beyond meals, guests have access to free Wi-Fi and clean restrooms. Through partnerships with community organizations, Arlington County services, and supervised nursing students, the Café also helps connect guests with health care, housing assistance, and other essential resources.

The Community Café is one way Central lives out its commitment to justice, mercy, and the dignity of every person.
